KUALA LUMPUR, 3 MARCH, 2011: Multimedia Development Corp (MDeC), in collaboration with Labtech International Ltd and Generation YES, have embarked on a GenYES program aimed at further enriching 'Smart School' learning and teaching experience.
In a statement today, MDeC said the collaboration was in line with project-based learning and international certification, benchmarked to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards for schools under the Ministry of Education.
"The program, targeted at schools, will enrich the learning and teaching experience of students and teachers by encouraging the use of information and communications (ICT) technology in a project-based learning environment," it said.
MDeC vice president (digital economy enablement enterprise function) Saifol Bahri, said in its vision to nurture the evolution of ICT as a culture, or 'info-culture', it hoped to implement a structured approach in the application of technology in classroom environment.
"The GenYES Program offers not only the structure for this, but it is benchmarked to the standards set by the ISTE, which allows for students to get an international certification recognizing their ability in utilization of ICT as a living skill," he said.
Labtech International Ltd president, Steven Mckee, said the MSC Malaysia-MySTL Catalyst project would provide Malaysian students the opportunity to produce rigorous technology-infused projects aligned to existing curriculum.
SMK Ampang Pecah in Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor, SMK(F) Besout Sungkai Perak and Sekolah Seri Puteri Cyberjaya are the first schools to benefit from the GenYES program.
